ChatGPT for beginners: a free course for work
If you have never really used ChatGPT, or tried it and got bland answers, start here. The course assumes nothing and explains every term the first time it comes up.
Where to begin
Begin with the Foundations phase: eight short lessons on what these tools are, how to prompt them, why they get things wrong and what to keep out of them. Everything you learn there applies to ChatGPT and the others. Then move to the ChatGPT phase, which starts with a tour of the screen.
The habit that makes the biggest difference
Give it context. 'Write an email to a supplier' gets something generic. 'Write a short, polite email to a supplier whose delivery is a week late, asking for a new date by Friday; we have used them for years and want to keep the relationship' gets something you can send after a light edit. The prompting lessons turn that into a repeatable pattern.
What it won't do well
It will state wrong facts confidently, invent references, and go along with a mistaken assumption in your question. Knowing that isn't a reason to avoid it; it is the reason to check. Level 1 ends with a lesson on its limits and how to work around them.
